When it comes to nail storage products, we often think of two options; a soft bag or a harder case. But there is a third option that may be a better choice for you, depending on your needs and preferences; the desk organiser.
Is a Desk Organiser Right for Me?
A desk organiser may be a good option for you if any of the following apply:
You Do Your Nails at Home
This is probably the most obvious constraint. If your nail products don’t need to be mobile, then there is less need to worry about a portable case or bag. You have what you need for a home manicure, or a touch up before a big night out and that’s it.
You Only Have a Small Collection
Let’s be honest; a desk or vanity table probably isn’t the best place to store a giant collection of nail products. It’s also not the best idea for bulky accessories such as UV lamps!
On the other hand, if you are just beginning your collection and are keeping things simple, this may be the set up for you. Think; a few different bottles of product and some essential tools, rather than a professional set up.
You Have a Small Space
If you live in a smaller space such as a studio apartment or student accommodation, you may not have endless room to play with. This is where having a small collection that can fit into a pre-existing space (such as onto a desk in a student dorm). Why not put your nail varnish next to your pens and pencils?
If your living situation is temporary or semi-temporary (again, think students in uni halls), you probably want to keep your set up as simple and practical as possible.
You Need Quick Access to All or Part of a Collection
Who said you had to store everything in the same place? You could have a larger collection elsewhere in an organised draw, bag, or box, and then keep your go-to favourites in a desk store for easy access.
This works just as well if your whole collection is small and you just want to grab and go.
Your Want to Show Off Your Products!
Maybe you want your collection to serve an aesthetic purpose. If you have a desk, table, or vanity unit where you do your make up, a small, well curated selection of varnish bottles might be the perfect addition. Clear or open organisers are especially good for visibility. Bonus points if you can use it to impress any friends who may be getting ready with you!
The usual rule applies here; even if you are running late out the door, take some time afterwards to keep your products organised and in their place. You don’t want the fact that they are out in the open to turn into an excuse for chaos and disorganisation.
Should You Buy a Desk Nail Organiser?
If you have a small collection that lives at home and you want quick access to your products, a desk organiser may be just what you need.
On the other hand, if your desk is in the path of a lot of direct sunlight, you need to move your products around frequently, or you have a large collection that may look messy ‘out in the open’, a box or bag may be a better storage option for you.
